Scan, search and find

The Scan tab opens the camera on Scan a label. Point it at a label and the container opens at once, from the copy on your phone, then refreshes from the server a moment later. A note tells you when the contents could not be refreshed: Showing saved contents · could not refresh, or · sign-in needed.

No camera, or camera access is off? Type the label’s code in Or enter a label code, or allow the camera for UniBox in your phone’s Settings.

The Search tab searches items and containers across all your sources in one go.

  • Results appear immediately from the copy on your phone, then the servers are asked and the list is refined. If a server cannot be reached, the results say which one.
  • Each result shows where it is (its container path) and its source. Labelled means the container has a label. Location unknown means UniBox cannot tell which box it is in.
  • Labelled containers only hides everything you could not find with the camera.
  • Tap a result to open it. Items that are stored in a container work offline; items with no container only appear when the server is reachable.

On a result whose container has a label, tap Find. The camera opens and looks for that container’s label among everything in view.

  • The box you are looking for is highlighted; other labels are shown more quietly. You feel one tap when it locks on.
  • Several labels in view at once is fine: UniBox reads them all and tracks them as you move the phone.
  • When it spots the label you get Found it, with a button to open the container.
  • If it is not in view after a few seconds, a hint names the label to look for and where it should be.
  • A container with no label cannot be found with the camera; Find offers to create one.
