UniBox

Offline and syncing

UniBox keeps a copy of your containers and items on the phone. That is what makes scanning and searching instant, and why they keep working in a basement or a garage without signal.

  • Scanning a label and seeing its saved contents.
  • Searching items and containers that are saved on the phone.
  • Browsing containers.
  • Making and printing labels, and binding them.

What needs the server: reading the latest contents, sources you have not synced yet, and items that have no container.

Where What happens
A scanned or opened container Shows the saved copy at once, then re-reads that container from the server
Sources list, pull down Syncs every source
Browse containers, pull down Syncs that source
Bind many labels, box list Checks only the container list (quick), when it opens, when it is a few minutes old, and on pull down
Sync now on a source Re-reads everything from that server

If a refresh fails, UniBox keeps the saved copy and tells you, for example Showing saved data with the status Unreachable.

A container shows how many items are in it. A place whose items are all in places inside it shows N items inside; one with both shows 2 here · 12 in total. Counts are as of the last full sync.
