Labels
A label is a QR code you stick on a real box. Scanning it opens that box in UniBox.
Make one label
Section titled “Make one label”- Open a container (from Sources → Browse containers, from a search result, or by scanning).
- Tap Create physical label.
- Tap Print / share label. The share sheet offers Print, Save to Files and your other apps.
- Stick the printout on the box.
A container can carry several labels (for example one on the lid and one on the shelf edge); they all open the same container.
What is in the code
Section titled “What is in the code”A label holds only a random ID inside a web address: https://unibox.cam/c/<random id>. It does not hold your server address, the
container’s name or anything about your inventory. That is why a label keeps working:
- if you rename or move the container,
- if you move to a different inventory system (you just link the label to its new container),
- and why a stranger who scans it learns nothing. They see a page saying it is a UniBox label.
The link between a label and a container is stored on your phone.
Scanning a label
Section titled “Scanning a label”- With UniBox: use the Scan tab.
- With the phone’s own Camera app: scan the label and tap the banner. If UniBox is installed it opens on the container. If not, a page explains what the label is.
Labels that are not linked yet
Section titled “Labels that are not linked yet”A label that no container is linked to on this phone shows Unlinked inventory label. Tap Link this label, choose the source, browse to the container and tap Link label here. This is what you do with stickers from a printed batch.
When a label’s box is gone
Section titled “When a label’s box is gone”If the container was deleted on your server, scanning its label says Container no longer exists and offers Rebind label (point it at another container) or Remove binding. If the whole source was removed, it says Source not connected and offers Link to another container or Remove label. None of these change anything in your inventory system.
