Getting started
UniBox is a camera for the inventory system you already use. It reads your containers and items, lets you stick QR labels on real boxes, and then shows you what is inside a box when you scan it, or which box holds an item when you search.
-
Add your inventory system. Open the Sources tab and tap +. Choose Homebox or InvenTree, enter the server address and sign in. Connect a source says what each system needs.
-
Wait for the first sync. UniBox reads your containers and items and keeps a copy on the phone. When it is done the source shows Connected.
-
Make a label. Open a container and tap Create physical label, then print or share it and stick it on the box. See Labels. Labelling many boxes? Use batch labels.
-
Scan it. On the Scan tab, point the camera at the label, or scan it with the phone’s own Camera app and tap the banner. The box opens with its contents. See Scan, search and find.
-
Find something. On the Search tab, search for an item. Tap Find on a result and the camera picks out its box among many.
What UniBox does not do
Section titled “What UniBox does not do”- It does not replace your inventory system. Your data stays in Homebox or InvenTree, which remain the source of truth.
- It only reads. Adding, editing and deleting items and containers happens in your inventory system.
- It has no account and no server of its own. See privacy.
